TIMBER SHED, Beaumont-Sardolles, France

During the recent pandemic lockdowns, cradle to cradle sustainability informs the design of a timber garden shed.

Foundations for the shed avoids concrete footings to use locally sourced Robinia (False Acacia) timber piers instead.

Traditional post and beam construction is selected for speed of construction by tapping into local know-how.

REHABILITATION OF STABLES, Beaumont-Sardolles, France

An existing stable is extended and converted into a summer accommodation for health retreat facilities.

The spirit of the stables is maintained by preserving the walls of the stable boxes, the existing concrete floor, the two tier stable door openings and the horse feeders.

Showers, a picnic dining area, a laundry room and an ecological boiler (log boiler) — intended to heat the main building — is inserted into each stable box.

All new work is made from locally sourced timber.
